I’m delighted to introduce two different types of faeries in my faery collection: Maritza Ice Rogue Faery Warrior and Matava Child Male Faery.

Come see them for yourself in the Atea Avatars store. You’ll find the new faeries in the fantasy section of the store, ground floor, under “new avatars”. Maritza is to the right of the store, and Matava is in the middle, to the left of the stairs.

Maritza Ice Rogue Faery Warrior

Maritza Ice Rogue Faery Warrior is a complete avatar, with custom fae skin, fantasy makeup, faery shape, hair, faery eyes, faery ears, full rogue warrior outfit, sword, 2 pairs of boots, and scripted flexi-wings. Also includes prim eyelashes, a facelight, and ice faery dust and mist.

Maritza Ice Rogue Faery Warrior Face

Maritza is a rogue faery warrior trained in the use of weaponry and skilled in fighting. She is also skilled in faery magics, and though light in appearance, can be a formidable opponent.

Matava Child Male faery Avatar

Matava Child Male Faery is a complete child faery avatar, with custom aqua and flame fae skin, fantasy makeup, shape, hair, eyes, faery ears, outfit, faery boots, dagger, faery effects, and scripted flexi-wings. Also includes prim eyelashes and facelight.

Matava is the son of the Matai Aqua Male Faery and the Mahina Fire Faery. He inherited his aqua skin tone from his father, with fiery highlights from his mother. Flame features highlight his face and his skin. His eyes are saturated in aqua drops, but surrounded by flames. His wings and hair have the combined aqua and flame colors, and his chest is highlighted with aqua drops along with fiery flames.

I’m thrilled to announce that I have finally created a male faery. I am very pleased with how he turned out! I had been thinking about making a male faery for some time, but didn’t have a chance to finish him until now.

Matai is a mystical male faery created in cool aqua tones. His cool blue eyes are a stunning contrast to his aqua hair, wings and fantasy skin.

Matai is at home in the Atea Avatars Faery Forest as well as the Faery Crossing castle. Though he is usally found in forests near water and streams, he is occasionally seen dancing at balls and galas across the fantasy realms. Matai has been known to wander about secret realms of the fae.

I have been amiss in posting all of the exciting new developments at Atea Avatars. The past few months have been devoted to expanding the store and surrounding lands. I hired the SL landscape designer Totem Flow to create a lovely forest with a pathway and waterfalls in the Atea Avatars store garden. It looks wonderful!

I also bought a wonderful new store by SomethingReal Atkey of Artisan Prefabs. I loved the original design of the store, but wanted to customize it to match the Atea Avatar colors (green and yellow). SomethingReal did a fabulous job customizing it to my specifications and the results are spectacular.

I just finished four male avatars that I have been working on in stages. All of them remind me of friends or relatives, and their backstories are all snippets of real lives. I am always delighted to see a character come to life. They really do take on personalities of their own.

Pierre Elder Male Human Avatar.
This is a complete avatar, with custom elder skin with white facial and body hair, shape, silver hair, pale blue eyes, several designer outfits, sculpted Italian shoes, designer sunglasses, sculpted scarf, sculpted beanie hat and luxury designer watch.

Pierre is equally at home in the desert wilderness or visiting friends and family in Montreal and Quebec. Perfectly bilingual, he has friends across countries and continents. He is just as likely to be whitewater rafting on the Colorado River as he is cooking for guests in his marvelous outdoor kitchen, or observing the stars from his astronomy station.

George Middle-Aged Male Human Avatar

Tane was one of my first attempts at a dark suntan skintone and I was never quite satisfied with the results. The old Tane is now retired. I have completely transformed the Tane Male Human Avatar, giving him new tanned skin, auburn hair, sculpted Italian shoes and classic outfits.

The Teva Male Human Avatar has been upgraded to include new hair, sculpted Italian shoes and classic outfits in black. Teva is a popular Tahitian name for men. Teva is an aerospace engineer who likes rock climbing, hiking, and river rafting in his free time. He also likes tinkering with cars. Teva likes to keep his style simple and often chooses to wear basic black.

Thierry Ethnic Male Avatar

This is a complete avatar, with custom ethnic skin, shape, hair, eyes, several designer outfits, sculpted Italian shoes, designer sunglasses, sculpted scarf, and sculpted beanie hat. Thierry has an international, multicultural look. He could be Polynesian, Asian, African-American, Indonesian, South-American, or of mixed heritage.

Thierry comes packed with several outfits that you can mix and match, including:

4 Classic sweaters (grey, green, red and tan)
A Classic Long-Sleeved White shirt and tie
A Classic Blue Button-down sweatshirt

While exhibiting for the Isle of Wyrms Winter Festival, I had the chance to meet such incredible avatar artists as Daryth Kennedy (Isle of Wyrms Dragons); Becky Nosferatu (Magician’s Productions); Sylver Bu (Creator of the Thel); and Zephyr Pennell (Lone Star Ranch, a remarkable horse creator who is now launching into exquisitely beautiful equine avatars). Most of them are members of the Avatar’s Makers Guild, which I have just joined! I had to IM Becky Nosferatu to get the secret Avatar Maker title

I am amazed by the kindness and generosity of these gifted creators. All of them made significant donations to the charity proceeds for the Isle of Wyrms favorite charity, which is St. Tiggywinkle’s Wildlife Hospital in England. When I had a question about setting permissions on custom fantasy skins, Sylver Bu was prompt to advise me on her approach and gave me a few other pointers. They are all wonderfully supportive and encouraging of emerging avatar artists, and I see none of the drama and negative competition that seems to manifest itself over in the Second Life fashion world.

Perhaps this is why I feel so at home among dragons, fae, elves, furries and other fantasy characters. They have such friendly communities filled with interesting, creative, and collaborative folks.

The Isle of Wyrms is one of the most spectacular set of sims, community, and gathering of avatars to be seen in Second Life. If you haven’t visited yet — you are missing out! Daryth Kennedy has created the most exquisite avatars in Second Life — the Isle of Wyrms Dragons, Wyrmlings, and Hatchlings.
